Career & Job Fair 2017
The 6th Annual Career and Job Fair saw over 2,300 jobseekers come out to meet employers representing a wide array of sectors including tech, finance, health, trades, manufacturing, hospitality, retail, gaming and food service.
Sixty-five employers were on site recruiting candidates to fill hundreds of positions and the feedback has been very positive, with comments ranging from “the quality of the candidates is great” to “this is the most organized job fair that we participate in each year”.
Larry Chan, Senior Manager of Employment Programs, was also pleased with the event. “The team worked really hard and it showed. We always try to provide a good experience for the jobseekers as we know it can be stressful meeting with recruiters; people seemed to be in a great mood. I’m especially pleased with the comments I’ve heard back from the employers as we want to ensure that they continue to work with MOSAIC to recruit staff. A big thanks to the team and to our employer partners for making this another successful job fair.”
Feedback from previous employer participants indicates that the diversity of candidates at MOSAIC’s job fairs is what motivates them to return each year to recruit qualified job-seekers. They have told event organizers that they value the “international experience” and the overall quality of applicants who attend.
The following information is from surveys conducted with the companies who participated in MOSAIC’s 2017 Job and Career Fair:
- 88% had current job openings they were hoping to fill
- 25% were following up with 20+ candidates they met at the event
- 25% were following up with 11-20 candidates they met at the event
- 50% were following up with 1-10 candidates they met at the event
