North Shore Language Centre clients visit MOSAIC Career & Job Fair

April 18, 2019

Five LINC level 6 and 7 classes from the North Shore Language Centre attended the MOSAIC Career & Job Fair on April 9th and were extremely enthusiastic about the event.

Students researched the companies ahead of time and in some classes, students were assigned one or two companies to research individually, while the class as a whole looked at one or two as well.

Students arrived prepared with questions to ask the recruiters and found them very patient and understanding, willing to explain the skills and training that would be necessary for particular positions. Students were also able to practice elevator pitches.

Afterward the job fair, students commented on the fact that volunteers were warm and welcoming which made the whole experience a positive one. Everyone enjoyed the networking opportunities and the chance to practice their English in such a welcoming setting.

Perhaps the biggest success story of the day was one L6 student who received a call back from TELUS within one hour and was invited for an interview the same week. After going through three successful interviews, the student found out April 24th that he has been hired for a full time engineering position, starting in June. The whole class is celebrating!
