The Filipino Fiesta at Memorial West Park on August 6, 2016 drew a good number of people from various communities. The fiesta also showcased how Filipinos love summer, barbecue and halo-halo, a Filipino dessert favorite. Families put up their picnic mats and laid out in the sun, watching the parade of different regions in the Philippines. Philippine Consulate delegates were present with the Consul General who gave a short speech to welcome the crowd, and there was a band featuring Filipino indigenous musical instruments. Various musical and dance performances showcased Filipino talent. At the MOSAIC table, staff members were busy providing information and resources for the questions posed by curious passers-by who were lining up to play the ‘Spin the Wheel of International Food and Flags’ game and get a MOSAIC prize!
