MOSAIC has launched a survey seeking input from refugee claimants in BC to gather information how to enhance services during COVID-19.
The deadline to complete the short, confidential survey is Wednesday, June 10, with a hopeful target of having at least 100 responses.
The intent of the survey is to gauge and make sure services are meeting the supports currently needed by refugee claimants and their families during the pandemic.
“Put simply, if we do not know what the needs are, how can we respond effectively?” says Alexandra Dawley, Manager of Refugee Settlement and Integration Program. “We care about our clients, and are ensuring that we are supporting evolving needs during COVID-19.”
Though the program team does regular outreach and individual needs-assessments by phone and email with refugee claimants, this survey is an additional way to reach out to a large number of current clients as well those who may not be getting services, but could use the support.
The Refugee Settlement and Integration Program (RSIP) will review the results as part of a larger assessment to make sure the ever-changing needs of refugee claimants can be responded to effectively in order to address gaps
Already, some early survey respondents have expressed that COVID-19 restrictions have led to feelings of loneliness, disconnect from the local community, and a desire to connect, find friendships, and give back.
RSIP will be responding with a new “Table Topics” virtual conversation connection group for refugee claimants beginning at 5 pm on Wednesday, June 17. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up.
