About this program

This unique and one of its kind program is intended for immigrant, refugee and visible minority couples who are at risk of experiencing or perpetrating domestic violence. The program focuses on improving and building stronger family relationships and creating a motivation for change within the couples.

The program hopes to provide intimate partners with the knowledge and skills to significantly reduce the chances of domestic violence in the future.

The Enhancing Healthy Relationships Program helps participants to:

  • Learn constructive ways to deal with conflict
  • Improve ways of communication
  • Identify personal triggers
  • Have increased emotional regulation skills
  • Develop stress management skills and strategies
  • Learn about the dynamics domestic violence

Schedule & locations

Free group counseling services are offered to couples in the format of 1 intake session followed by 6 sessions, 60-90 minutes in duration. In addition, 2 workshops per month will also be available.

Eligibility

Immigrant, refugee, and visible minority intimate partners who are at risk of experiencing or perpetrating domestic violence. Couples, where one partner is a Canadian Citizen, may also be admitted to the program.
