About this project

This unique and one of its kind project is intended for immigrant, refugee and visible minority couples who are at risk of experiencing or perpetrating domestic violence. The project focuses on improving and building stronger family relationships and creating a motivation for change within the couples.

The project hopes to provide intimate partners with the knowledge and skills to significantly reduce the chances of domestic violence in the future.

The Enhancing Healthy Relationships Project helps participants to:

  • Learn constructive ways to deal with conflict
  • Improve ways of communication
  • Identify personal triggers
  • Have increased emotional regulation skills
  • Develop stress management skills and strategies
  • Learn about the dynamics domestic violence

Schedule & locations

The project is delivered over the course of 7 sessions to couples and 1 follow-up session. For project delivery schedule and Interpretation assistance, please contact the Coordinator.

Note: During COVID-19, the project will be delivered virtually.


Immigrant, refugee and visible minority intimate partners who are at risk of experiencing or perpetrating domestic violence. Couples, where one partner is a Canadian Citizen, may also be admitted to the project. Please contact the Coordinator for further enquiry.
