Aylyn de Los Reyes, Hair and Makeup Artist from the Philippines

AylynAylyn de Los Reyes is a young woman from Manila Philippines who landed in Vancouver on June 16, 2016. She has a Bachelor degree of Arts in mass communication from Far Eastern University and a Certificate in Fashion Makeup Artistry from Fashion Institute of the Philippines. She worked as a freelance hair and makeup artist in Manila for several years.

Aylyn joined the SOPA program the first week of April. Make up is her passion and her wishes were to continue working in this field when she moved to Vancouver. Within a month of arriving in Vancouver, Aylyn landed a job as a cosmetician, makeup artist and beauty advisor at Shoppers Drugmart. This is what she said about the SOPA program:

“From the moment I met Soraya Etminan (SOPA, JSS Facilitator), my pre-planning for my new life in Canada with my family started on the right track. I can attest to this as I have found a job in my particular skill of make-up artistry in just one month after I landed in Vancouver. The pre-planning started in my home country in the Philippines. At home, I was able to learn how to make a Canadian-style resume through the guidance of SOPA’s team composed of Soraya, Melissa, and Anisha. SOPA also gave me homework, quizzes, and audio voice tests to improve my skills.

Constant feedback from the facilitators and tips helped me build my self-confidence and determination. I highly recommend immigrants like me not to hesitate to call and work with SOPA as it is a free service that will definitely increase your chances of easing the transition to Canada. SOPA is the key to opening a better future for you and your family.”

Sincerely,

Aylyn de Los Reyes
